SquashSkills have partnered with Athlete Life Insurance to launch a new initiative recognising the physical demands of squash and rewarding players for maintaining their fitness while planning ahead with life insurance.
The partnership introduces squash players to Athlete Life Insurance’s fitness-linked cashback model, where eligible policyholders may earn cashback on their life insurance premiums by completing regular fitness assessments through the Athlete app. These assessments focus on cardiovascular fitness, strength, and health knowledge.
For SquashSkills users, the initiative recognises the commitment they already make to staying active through squash, while encouraging greater engagement with long-term health and financial planning.
Squash is widely regarded as one of the most physically demanding sports in the world. It demands sustained cardiovascular fitness, strength, agility, and mental resilience. However, traditional life insurance models rarely reflect how active or fit someone is. Athlete Life Insurance aims to address this by using fitness data as part of a rewards mechanism linked to ongoing healthy behaviours.
Through the partnership, squash players can access Athlete Life Insurance’s app-based fitness assessment, which combines estimates of VO₂ max, strength testing, and health knowledge into a single Athlete Level score. Based on this score, eligible policyholders may receive quarterly cashback, with most users typically earning between 5–15%. Higher levels may receive more. Cashback amounts are variable and not guaranteed.
Jethro Binns, founder of SquashLevels and SquashSkills, said:
“Squash players know how hard our sport is. You can be fit, but squash fit is a different thing altogether. What really resonated with us about Athlete Life Insurance is that they recognise and reward that effort, making it a natural fit for our community.
“On a personal level, becoming a father has completely changed how I think about planning ahead. Life insurance was never front of mind before, but suddenly it mattered. Meeting the team at Athlete Life Insurance helped me understand what I needed to do, and what I love is that there’s a positive incentive built in. I get to keep playing squash, keep pushing myself, and that commitment to staying healthy is recognised rather than ignored.”
Alex Heaton, co-founder of Athlete Life Insurance added:
“The science is very clear that cardiorespiratory fitness and strength are among the strongest predictors of long-term health and longevity. Squash players are a great example of individuals who train hard, stay active, and prioritise their well-being. This partnership allows us to recognise that, and give something back in the form of cashback.”
The partnership is designed to help squash players better understand their fitness, plan ahead for their families, and benefit financially from staying healthy, without changing the way they train or play.
