What’s new at SquashSkills: Put it into practice

26th November 2018

It’s been a busy period here at SquashSkills that has seen us make a few changes to the way we’re doing things.

We’ve made some small tweaks to the site that have hopefully resulted in a more coherent user experience, particularly around the playlist section.

You may have also noticed that we’ve undertaken a rebrand and have freshened things up both on and off the site.

Perhaps the most significant change is about to come into fruition over the next couple of weeks. Up until now, we have focused almost exclusively on coaching squash via demonstration, using video content.

Over the last six years, we’ve released a huge number of playlists with a new release coming out every week. This has meant that we’ve been able to build a huge library of videos covering all aspects of the game.

We do however feel that we can improve the service by taking a more 360° learning format to give you a much more complete understanding of the topic that we’re teaching.

Over the next 6 weeks, we will be trialling a new format that sees our content release schedule shift to a bi-weekly format.

  • Week 1: In the Court = Introduction to practice/watch and learn/new fitness content
  • Week 2: In the Classroom = Key takeaways/new squash sessions/supplementary content

This will allow us to offer up a deeper exploration of new topics and provide an increased ability for you to put what you’ve learned into practice.

Every time we introduce a new topic we’ll start ‘in the court’ with a series of videos designed to get across the key teaching points around the subject. The following week (once you’ve had a chance to digest those learnings) we’ll follow up with a written piece called ‘Put it into practice’ which will reinforce some of the key takeaways from the series as well as providing you with the tools you need to implement some of the coaching points into your own game.

You can expect a mixture of specially designed solo practices, pairs routines and condition games that will allow you to get to grips with the takeaways from the series.

You’ll also be directed at supplementary content that will deepen your understanding and help you to truly master the subject.

We’re excited about this initiative, we feel that this will allow you to get a better understanding of the teaching points in the series as well as giving us the opportunity to increase the production values of the new content.

We’re always looking for feedback, so if you’d like to share your thoughts at any point, just drop us an email!
