Ever-popular South African luminary Jesse Engelbrecht is back leading our brand new featured content this week, this time delving into the intricacies of the back forehand corner.
We had a fantastic response to Jesse’s deep backhand playlist, so he agreed to come back (along with able pupil Emma!) to go through the same process for the forehand side.
While most amateur players tend to report feeling more confident on the forehand side of the court as compared to the backhand, the deep forehand corner does have its own subtleties as regards approach, footwork, and body position to consider, to allow you to truly master this area of the game.
Jesse covers a whole range of topics in the playlist, including taking the ball off the back wall, digging tough balls out, and dealing with varying paces of cross-court. We’ve also included some fantastic PSA examples, so you can see how the very best players in the world do it.
Even for those of you out there who feel relatively comfortable in the deep forehand corner, there are some really insightful breakdowns by Jesse that are well worth checking out. Sometimes examining a topic from a different angle can help give you a fresh approach you’d not previously considered, that might just give you that crucial extra edge on court.

This second pairs session is based around a progression of conditioned games, to allow you to really start applying some of the insights and ideas from the playlist into a more realistic match-based context.
